Preparing Your File for Print

If you can't find a template that fits your needs exactly you can create your own design using Microsoft PowerPoint, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator or many other popular programs and pick from any of our standard sign sizes (see the pricing page for more details). Please read the following tips before uploading your file.

Resolution

If your file contains any images they need to be at least 150 dpi at the desired size in order to get a good print and avoid being resampled. You should "zoom in" to see how your image looks when enlarged if you aren't sure about the quality. A file that is low resolution will get blurry and jagged very quickly when zoomed in. If your file is completely vector based (i.e. Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, .EPS, etc.) then you don’t need to worry about the resolution.

Page Size & Orientation

We will print your design "portrait" (tall) or "landscape" (wide) depending on your file and will enlarge it as much as possible to fit the size you've specified online. Make sure your design has the same "aspect ratio" as the size you are ordering.

PowerPoint Page Size Tips

To set up your page size in PowerPoint 2003 or earlier, go to File > Page Setup and enter the new dimensions.

To set up your page size in PowerPoint 2007 or later, go to the Design tab, click Page Setup and enter the new dimensions in the dialog box.

Unfortunately, PowerPoint will only let you use a custom page size no larger than 56" inches. In order to workaround this limitation, you'll need to set up your file with a smaller page size with the same aspect ratio as your desired output. For example, if you're ordering a 36" by 72" banner, you can set your PwerPoint page size to 12" by 24" which is smaller but the same proportion.

Non-Standard Fonts

If you are using any typefaces that are not "standard" you should convert the text to curves (Corel), convert the text to outlines (Illustrator), or save the file with the TrueType fonts embedded (PowerPoint). If you don't do this and we don't have the fonts, we will contact you, which will delay the printing of your file.
